Their Own Language

Galen and Miles like to "talk" to each other these days.

Pumpkin Patch

I was lucky enough to go twice to the pumpkin patch this year. Twice in one week actually. Yes folks, this is what my life as a mother has become...I get excited about going to the pumpkin patch. We went once with our friend's the Stangle Family and then back a few days later with Ava's school. The weather here has been pretty warm and clear, so we lucked out both times! Ava loved it (of course) I think her favorite activities were riding the "train" which is really a tractor that pulls a bunch of cars behind it, and the petting zoo...especially the baby cows (maybe that was my favorite too, I could've taken one home for our backyard, but then my husband would have divorced me so I thought better than to risk my marriage on a baby cow...

We tried to get a pic where everyone is looking, but that's sorta hard these days.
The only other pic we got of Miles the entire day, sorry kid!
Riding her pony. She asked Dad for one but he said "no" so sad.
Out of all the big pumpkins, she chose this tiny one. At least it didn't cost a fortune :)
Smith Rock
Ava's (and my) new best friend Bess. I really don't know it's name, or if it's a boy or a girl, but I think she looks like a Bess.

Scooter

Miles has become very mobile in the past few weeks. I cannot believe he's only 6 months and about to crawl. He's really been working hard on getting those legs up under him and coordinating the arms to move along with the legs...but hasn't quite got it yet. Instead, he's been scooting all over the place. I'll put him down one place, and a few minutes later I'll and find him in a whole different room. He's got a new nick name: Scooter. Here's why...

Miles was 6 months old on Monday. Time flies when you're having fun (or, when you have 2 kids!) The doc says he's a very happy and healthy baby boy. The past two times we've been in the doctor mentioned that Miles had great "muscle mass" and thought he was very developed for his age...whatever that means, guess it's good news!

Here's how he weighed in...15 lbs 13 oz (20th %), 26 1/2 inches (55th %)

Family Pics {By Coffey}

While she was in town for Ava's birthday party, my very talented best friend took some fabulous family photos of us. I absolutely love them! We're so lucky to have Coffey come and capture some memories for us. They are beautiful! Thanks so much Coffey, we love you!

Hair Cut

I know that 2 blogs in 2 days is a little much, but I had to share this. I promise I have more to do each day than sit here at my computer writing and reading blog posts, but cleaning my house just isn't as fun...

So, if anyone has seen Ava with her hair down lately, they can attest to the fact that she had the beginnings of a mini-mullet. This was because all summer I put her hair up in pig tails or braids or a pony tail to keep it out of her face and, well, as the summer wore on, so did her hair. The girl would rip out the rubber bands like no body's business, and in doing so, broke off most of the front of her very fine hair. So, I've been contemplating getter her hair cut for quite some time.

Now, I must stop here and tell you that I think short hair is very cute on kids, but I promised myself I would never cut my daughter's hair short. This is because of the hair cut I had as a little kid, you know the one I mean, like my parents stuck a bowl on my head and just cut around that?! Yikes. I was always jealous of my sister's beautiful long pig tails and braids, and was so happy when Ava's hair grew so quickly so I could do the same to her.

So, it was with much trepidation that I took Ava to "Sprouts" for her first real hair cut. We had to cut off A LOT in order to get it all evened out and healthy again.

And I am so happy to report she looks FABULOUS!

It's weird to see her with this short of hair cause it looks alot like my Little Ava, circa 2007.
Though she's looking forward to growing her hair back out like a princess again, she's quite fond of her sassy new do.
A blond "Suri Cruise" if I say so myself!

SNOW?

When Ava and Galen came in to wake me up on Sunday morning, I didn't believe them when they said it was snowing, I was like, yeah right guys...whatever! Then Galen opened up the blinds in our room...I was in shock...what? SNOW? Are you kidding me? Yes folks, October has barley begun and we got SNOW! It was like 90 degrees last weekend! It snowed all day, we got about 4 inches at our house. The next morning, just as I as beginning to wonder why we ever made the choice to move from San Diego to Bend, the snow had all melted and it has been sunny and warm all week. Crazy!

We made the most of the snow while it lasted. Ava played outside for hours!
Miles, like his mommy, wasn't too sure of this cold white stuff falling on his face.
It's really coming down!

Snow= A very happy little girl!
It was nice to see the snow, but I am so not ready for winter...snow, you can go ahead and stay up in the mountains where you belong this year! Give me some fall days please! Winter, you can come later, a LOT later!

Sleepy Boy

Miles is usually a very good sleeper, but last night, I don't know what was up. We didn't get much sleep in our house...I'm going to blame it on a growth spurt (like I blame everything on these days) and hope it doesn't happen again! This morning, our little boy was quite tired from being awake all night...he could hardly keep his eyes open while bouncing in his bouncer!

Now our little man is fast asleep (in his bouncer) for what I hope to be a very long nap. I've decided not to disturb him from his slumber. Mom and Dad on the other hand, are still awake...more coffee please!
