She's Baaaack!

For awhile there I thought Ava's obsession with dressing herself had gone by the wayside, but for the past couple weeks, she's been at it again in full force. She went to school in this last week, and I told her teacher to get ready to see the "real Ava"...I think she looks so cute...just look at that pose!
Mr. Miles is doing great as always. This is his favorite face to make, he loves to suck on his lower lip. The alligator is his new best friend. He has to have it whenever he sleeps, loves to chew on it's tail. I guess it's better than than a binkie like Ava had!

::Halloween::

Better late than never... Here are our little goblins:

My skeleton and my princess
All the cousins ready for a night of candy collection
Ava was SO excited about all the candy. But someone (I won't say who, cough...Galen) took out all the good stuff for himself!
Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty looking fabulous
My wonderful mother made the princess dresses for the girls. They LOVE these dresses and dance around and sing in them everyday. I am SO lucky to have such a talented mom who's always willing to drop everything make something for these kids. Love you Mom, MUAH!

Scooter Stands!

I have great news...my camera LIVES! I turned it on today and it magically started working. I don't get it...I'm beginning to think Ava and Miles somehow sabotaged it so I wouldn't take so many pictures of them on Halloween. I dunno, but I am so happy I don't have to buy a new one.

Anyway, on to bigger and better things. Our little Scooter (Mr. Miles) has been pulling himself up to standing for a couple of weeks now. Is it just me or does anyone else think this is WAY too early to be doing this? I mean come on, he's only 6 months old! Miles LOVES to stand. He pretty much climbs onto anything he comes across from the dogs, people's legs, Ava, the rocks around our fire place, whatever. I think we may have a future rock climber on our hands. Whenever he gets to standing, he's so proud of his accomplishment, and as it is very cute, I'm tempted to nudge him back down with my foot...I'm not ready to have him learn to walk just yet...

After watching this video, I've noticed that in most of my posts and pics with Miles, he's not wearing any pants. I swear we own pants for him, and he's in them when we leave the house. My kids like being naked I guess. I don't remember if when she was this age, we always had Ava's pants off too or not, but that could explain her love of undressing down to her undies whenever we get inside.

Neglected!

Dear Blog,

I am sorry for neglecting you. I really do have a good excuse though, a couple really.
First off, two weekends ago, Ava came down with the flu, H1N1 to be exact. She got it from our neighbor who was taken to hospital with symptoms and positive for H1N1, the poor girl and her brother were so sick and got croup on top of it all, aweful. They're doing fine now, thank goodness. Ava had her first H1N1 vaccine a few weeks ago, but not the booster for it yet. I think with the first round of the vaccine, Ava was able to fight it off pretty well. She had a very high fever, hovered around 105 for a few days, and was pretty tired and grumpy, but she didn't get the cough or soreness that they say comes along with it. We laid low last week (obviously) and made Ava a little bed in the playroom where she just hung out and watched movies and drank all her favorite drinks and ate whatever she wanted (this backfired on me once she got better as she expected to get anything she wanted and expected it to be served to her immediately). She was better after 5 days and is back to her usual self. The rest of us somehow escaped Ol' Swiney all together...knock on wood.

The second reason I have not posted in so long is because my camera is broken, and what's a blog post without a photo? Boring, that's what! I bet half the people who even read this blog didn't give it a second glance cause they saw there's not pics with this post (that's what I do anyways:) So, what's a girl to do? I'm lost without my camera, though I think Ava and Miles have been delighted not to have a camera in their face every two seconds.
Anyway, those are my very legitimate reasons for not posting for awhile.

So, instead of a picture, I guess I'll tell a funny Ava story from yesterday. While we were driving, Ava kept saying some weird made up word, something like shoobatoot or something like that. I said, "Ava' what's that mean?" And she says: "Mom, don't you know?...shoobatoot is Spanish for Fart!" ha. She's so funny :)

Once my sister sends me her photos of Halloween, (which knowing Kylie could be next year) I'll be sure to put them up. The kids were SO cute in their costumes this year!

Sincerely Yours,
Meghan

Pumpkin Patch

I was lucky enough to go twice to the pumpkin patch this year. Twice in one week actually. Yes folks, this is what my life as a mother has become...I get excited about going to the pumpkin patch. We went once with our friend's the Stangle Family and then back a few days later with Ava's school. The weather here has been pretty warm and clear, so we lucked out both times! Ava loved it (of course) I think her favorite activities were riding the "train" which is really a tractor that pulls a bunch of cars behind it, and the petting zoo...especially the baby cows (maybe that was my favorite too, I could've taken one home for our backyard, but then my husband would have divorced me so I thought better than to risk my marriage on a baby cow...

We tried to get a pic where everyone is looking, but that's sorta hard these days.
The only other pic we got of Miles the entire day, sorry kid!
Riding her pony. She asked Dad for one but he said "no" so sad.
Out of all the big pumpkins, she chose this tiny one. At least it didn't cost a fortune :)
Smith Rock
Ava's (and my) new best friend Bess. I really don't know it's name, or if it's a boy or a girl, but I think she looks like a Bess.

Scooter

Miles has become very mobile in the past few weeks. I cannot believe he's only 6 months and about to crawl. He's really been working hard on getting those legs up under him and coordinating the arms to move along with the legs...but hasn't quite got it yet. Instead, he's been scooting all over the place. I'll put him down one place, and a few minutes later I'll and find him in a whole different room. He's got a new nick name: Scooter. Here's why...

video

Miles was 6 months old on Monday. Time flies when you're having fun (or, when you have 2 kids!) The doc says he's a very happy and healthy baby boy. The past two times we've been in the doctor mentioned that Miles had great "muscle mass" and thought he was very developed for his age...whatever that means, guess it's good news!

Here's how he weighed in...15 lbs 13 oz (20th %), 26 1/2 inches (55th %)
